"we have to leave? B-But we just got here!"
He glanced around for an exit, but it seemed that the only way out of this cavern was the way they had walked in. Rocky walls surrounded them on nearly every side, and looking up, the ceiling of the cave was out of sight.Shrugging, he transformed into a bird, and took off.
"Maybe we can get out this way!" He shouted. He laughed to himself as he imagined her stuck down there, stuck with whatever it was that had made the sounds. Of course, he hadn't actually heard any sounds, so she was probably just making it up, some evil scheme of hers for sure. He flew on for a little while, until the cavern turned sharply, and he found himself in broad daylight overlooking a large canyon. He landed on the mouth of the dry sandy cave mouth floor, and looked around. At the mouth of the cave, the ground was a good 80 feet below, so that you could only get to it by flying. The floor was all sand, with a few rocks strewn about. No vegetation was in sight.. He smiled as he returned to his human form, and sat down against the wall of the cave.

Walks up to Hawk and says, "A little more warning would have been nice. Was it just me, or did that seem like a longer flight than when we first went down?"
*shades her eyes and looks around*

Hawk jumped out of his skin. Well, not literally, but quite figuratively. As she walked into the light, he noticed for the first time what appeared to be wings. She can fly!!!??!?!! he thought to himself. He looked down at his legs, now folded 'indian style' as he sat against the cavern wall. A slight breeze ruffled the sleeves of his white shirt, and he hesitated before responding.
"I didn't come in this way, I have no idea who you are, or how you got here, and I certainly didn't hear anything back in that cave. What in The Four's name is going on here???"
A slight sense of annoyance was creeping into his voice, despite his usual calm demeanor.

Gaerriel frowns "I'm getting the impression that you're not having a very good day..." She says a little hurtfully. "I'm Gaerriel, since you finally asked, who are you sir? Also, who are 'The Four'? The way you say it, I don't think I want to meet them..." Pulling things out of a number of different hidden pockets, she starts a small fire and puts on a kettle full of water and herbs. Then she sits down, on the opposite side of the cave.

Hawk looked at her, unsure of what to say. "You never heard of The Four? They are the ones responsible for creating all that we know as The Expanse! And to be honest, I have no idea how my day is going, because I can't remember anything before I met you. Some sort of memory loss or something. I don't even know my name, all I know is that I need to go north. I don't know why, but I have this strange urgency to go north." He paused as she withdrew some materials from nowhere, and started a fire. He didn't see what she used, but he assumed it was either magic, or something she brought, because nothing in the cave was flammable. He still wasn't sure if he could trust her, but he figured he didn't have a choice. He closed his eyes, and extended his mind outwards, in a sort of meditative stance. Besides himself, and Gaerriel, there was a few birds, and a pair of lizards nearby. Other then that, they were alone. He opened his eyes, and watched her from across the cave.

Gaerriel sat in her plain brown robe and pulled out some yarn and a crotchet needle. "You like a hat, or a muffler, or a scarf or anything?" She asks as she starts to crotchet. As the kettle starts to whistle she pulls a couple of tin mugs from her hidden pockets, "Would like some chamomile tea? Very soothing, might help you relax...but maybe you have your own way of doing that..." She fills both mugs and sets one within his arm reach. In between sipping from hers she says, "North, huh....I don't have anything better to do...If you want some company I'll travel with you...." As she says this she looks kind of lonely....

Hawk keeps his eyes on her the entire time. She is crazy!!! He thought to himself. "Uhh, nah, I think I am good." He said when she some yarn, and a needle and started to move her hands in a weird pattern. "Tea I might have though" He stated as he leaned over to grab his mug, careful to keep her in his sights. He was about to refuse her when she asked to come with him, but he paused. He looked her up and down, and sighed inwardly. Truth was, he wasn't really sure where he was going, and she could help. Assuming she didn't drive him insane first. Not to mention she seemed very lonely, a feeling Hawk knew all to well. "Very well. You can accompany me, if you wish, but I had better not regret this later." With that he sipped his hot tea, and smiled.

When he denied wanting anything crocheted Gaerriel put both yarn and needle away into their pockets. When he said that she could go with him Gaerriel nearly spilled her tea. A wide almost scary, but completely friendly grin broke across her face and (after she set her tea down) she clapped her hands a few times. Then she promptly began going through her pockets muttering to herself.

Hawk knew without a doubt, he was going to regret this. He set down his half finished tea, and sighed. "well, I am going to try to rest for a little, then we can head out in a few hours." With that, he fell into a light sleep.

Gaerriel barely heard him as she shuffled through her pockets and made triple sure she was organized and ready for what she was thinking of as a grand voyage. She wondered if she would see any old friends, or any new ones that didn't know they were her friends yet. She was pretty sure that the guy across from her didn't know they were friends yet, but he would learn, almost everyone learned in eventually. He would have a whole journey to learn, so she wasn't worried. With the thought of a new friend, or better, MORE new friends, on her mind Gaerriel quickly fell asleep.

After a much longer then desired sleep, Hawk awoke. He had always been able to wake himself when he wanted to, but today, however, he had slept much longer then anticipated. It was early in the morning it seemed, as the sun's rays were just peeking over the horizon, but the sun itself was still hidden from view. He must have slept for quite some time, as he had thought it to be a few hours after noon when he slept, almost 10 hours. He stretched, and thought about leaving her, but then imagined her sitting here alone, crying. He had told her she could come, and he always stuck by his word. And she was kinda attractive, in a strange bird way. He looked at her while she slept, using her wings/arms as a pillow, and her dark hair lay across her head in a mess. It made her seem down to earth, and actually quite lovely. He snapped out of his reverie, and bent down to wake her, placing a hand on her shoulder and gently shaking her.

She was being gently shaken, she felt it. It broke through her dreams like the morning did everyday, and she was awake. Without moving the rest of her body Gaerriel's eyes opened. They quickly scanned everything they could and closed again. After she took a deep breath she stretched in the hopes that it wouldn't make her yawn. Once again, however, her big morning stretch made her yawn.... "Would you like some breakfast?" She asks as she walks to the front of the cave. She looks around out side and then turns back to him before he can even answer. "Turn around." She says very demandingly, as she crosses her arms and her right leg starts to do a little jig.

Hawk hid a smile as she stretched and then yawned, her mouth opening much more then he thought possible. Is she a cat, or a bird! he thought to himself. She walked to the edge, and then told him to turn around. He had a good guess why she said that, so he turned around without asking her why. Despite the fact that she was attractive, for a non-human, he was not a pervert. Although, come to think of it...he wasn't exactly 'human' either. He smiled again as he waited for permission to face his new companion.

Almost before he finished turning around Gaerriel started to hum. Under this sand was a seed for a bush...she could feel it wanting to grow. The wind must have blown it up here. With her help and a little of her energy it began to grow. Within moments the bush was big enough for her to comfortably squat behind. With one more glance out side to make sure no one was down there, she did what she had to. As she stood back up, covering the evidence with sand, she turned to look into the cave. He was standing in the shadows, his back still to her. He was wearing all black. She could see the muscles on his arms and she thought that he was quite the male specimen.... She shook her head. "Now, what do you want for breakfast?" She wasn't going to tell him he could turn back around. For all her eyes cared, he could stay like that for as long as he wanted. Pulling some moss and her tinder box out of her pockets she started a small fire on top of the ashes from yesterday. Then she started some more tea. "Of course, I didn't pack an ice cooler, so our options are pretty limited, but I could make some flat bread...we might be able to find some eggs..... Oh, and some blackberry sage tea, of course!" Gaerriel turned back toward him, her eyes roving.

Although his back was to her, his mind was still alert. He knew she was done, but she still hadn't said anything about him being able to turn around again. He could sense her mind moving around, but wasn't sure if he could turn around. He really just wanted to get moving, they had wasted enough time as it was. "I am good on breakfast, I eat like a bird" he said. Which was true, he barely ate two meals a day, usually less. "There is two small lizards under a rock on the right side of the cave, right in that little alcove near the entrance, and a few flying creatures outside. The nearest eggs are on a very small ledge about 30 feet to the right of our cave, and about 6- feet down. There is about 4 of them, all slightly smaller then your thumb. If we fly down to the ground, there is more eggs in the trees and bushes then you will find here" He wondered how long she would keep him like this, and thought about mentioning it... but thought better of it. If she wanted him to turn around, she would request it.

Her eye's having enough of his backside, she found her mugs and washed them out with sand and a little water from her canteen. "I don't eat much either, but I didn't want to be rude. I'll be ready to go after I have a cup of tea... would you like some?" With one more glance at his back she poured some water in her mug with a few herbs. "Oh, isn't that sky pretty?" She wasn't even looking at the sky, but she thought that the comment might get him to turn around with out her risking sounding all high and mighty like some snobby females she'd met before.

Hawk was starting to feel uncomfortable, like she was keeping him like this on purpose. He knew it was probably just an oversight on her part, but still felt awkward. "I suppose a cup of tea would be nice" He replied to her question. "As for the sky, I can't exactly see it with my own eyes, but I can tell from the birds that are flying overhead that the weather is perfect for flying in, and I am sure that the sky is also beautiful..." his voice trailed off for a second, before resuming. "...is there a reason I am facing this wall?"

Gaerriel made another mug of tea as she replied, "The reason you're facing the wall is that you haven't turned back around. And of course you can't see the sky, there's a large bush blocking most of it from sight." She finished her tea, found a hair brush and proceeded to brush her hair as she waited for him to be ready.
