Hawk wasn't sure what to do. "oh... ummm... so I can turn around?" He waited for a reply, and then slooooowwwwlllly turned around. When she didn't stop him, he picked up the mug of tea she had left him and then began sipping it. He noticed a large bush at the entrance, and wondered how she had gotten it there. Shrugging, he finished his tea. "well, I think we are about ready to go, if you are ready" he said, as he watched her brush her long silky hair, noting the silver strands he saw in it, he couldn't help but notice how nice her hair was.

Gaerriel refused to let her eyes stare unmercifully at him without blinking. So she stared at her hands as she put her brush away. As she stood up she couldn't help but look at him, luckily her eye's stayed modestly on his face. "I'm ready when ever you are." She covered the ashes with sand and walked to the entrance of the cave, her hand lovingly smoothing back leaves on the bush. The leaves did not move back in to place but instead stayed where she placed them.

"Well, let us be off then!!" He followed her to the edge, and walked past her and her bush(still unsure as to how it had gotten there), and leapt right off the edge without a beat of hesitation. He let himself free fall for a few seconds, before he transformed, and in a flash he became a large hawk, 20 feet from wing tip to wing tip, with mainly brown feathers. He spread his wings wide, and in a graceful arc, glided back up to a level even with the cave. He then slowly rose upward, until he was at a comfortable flying height. Then he headed north.

Gaerriel watched as he jumped from the cave free falling. When he transformed her breathe was taken away. She'd never seen such a wingspan. With a soft and wistful bird trill she took off after him. She loved the wind through her feathers, rushing through her hair... But she liked the way the sun felt even more... "Hey!" Gaerriel had to yell to be heard over the wind whistling through her ears, he was so far ahead of her she didn't think he could hear her. "HEY!" She sent a gentle suggestion into his bridy mind that maybe he should slow down for her for a moment.

His wings wide open, he continued to glide for a few seconds before he even thought about Gaerriel. He extended his thoughts outward, trying to pick up where she was without turning around. He easily picked out her odd conscience among the few other birds, and could tell she was having trouble keeping up. She was emanating a slight sense of urgency, and he knew he should slow down. He sighed, as he slowed down his pace, letting her catch up.

Gaerriel sped up, she was used to taking her time doing everything, but she understood that when one is traveling with others one must make accommodations... As she got within good speaking distance she asked, "Have you remembered anything yet?"

Hawk didn't have to slow down much, for which he was thankful. There was a time for fun, and a time for business. "I know that there is something up North for me. And I know that people are waiting for me. I don't know why I was down here, or what happened, or how long I have been here. So really, I don't recall anything. But I feel like I need to get to somewhere, as fast as I can." He also realized that they should be flying a little more east, so he adjusted accordingly. He could see a giant forest up ahead, but knew they had to go past it. He just wasn't sure how much further past it they had to go.

Gaerriel could tell this male was all business right now. Granted, that wasn't the most fun thing she could be a part of.... However, he was cute and had been nice so far. Besides if there were people waiting for him they were probably his friends, which would mean more friends for her to meet! Yes, it was boring right now, but there was the promise of fun to come. So with her NEEEEW determination to follow this strange male she flew behind him where she would be able to use his drafts to keep pace with him.

As they flew over the giant forest, Hawk could sense some conflict down below. Scanning the scene below, he could tell there was some sort of fight going on. He thought about flying down to see what was up, but didn't want to prolong his flight north. He slowed down, but decided he would keep going on. Let them take care of there own battles.

Gaerriel slowed down with the male in front of her. She could tell something was wrong, but she didn't know what. Then she felt it. A bush screaming in agony, then a tree started to feel it too. With a loud and angry shriek Gaerriel dived before she'd even fully located the source. There was a group of males (go figure, males thought Gaerriel) and some how a fire had started to spread, burning first a bush and then spreading in the way that fires have. When she saw that he was feeding the fire Gaerriel made a quick attack at the head of the male closest to the fire. He quickly sat on his rump and held his arms (and the stick he'd been about to feed the fire) over his head protectively.

She dove. It was more a question then a statement. He could tell she had, but he couldn't believe it. He sighed as he circled once, and then flew in after her. Girls he thought to himself as he followed her.

Pulling out her canteen Gaerriel soak the surrounding trees to the best of her ability. The bush was as good as dead and it knew it. It had stopped screaming and was passively burning. The other trees, however, were going to live through it. IF Gaerriel could put out the flames. Running through a list of spells and another list of items on her personage Gaerriel tried to think of a plan. Something she'd forgotten, though, was about to ruin it for her. She barely heard the gasp as the man behind her stopped hiding himself. She turned around to face him. He had a knife in his hand but he looked more like he wanted to use his hands on her. He beard was long and bushy, with bits of food and sticks in it. Gaerriel already didn't like him, but this just made matters worse. Half turning around and bending she reached into the fire and grabbed the base of the bush. Ignoring the pain the fire caused her Gaerriel asked "Please, let me have this." The next thing the guy in front of her knew (she'd turned back to face her attacker), she was slapping him with a burning branch.

Hawk smiled as he saw Gaerriel start swinging a branch wildly at her attacker. He thought back to the mysterious bush in the cave, and started fitting pieces together. A good bit of the area was on fire here, making it hard to land. Without thinking about it, he used his Ring of Dwarfism, and quickly shrunk to the size of a normal hawk. After landing, he glanced around. He didn't see anyone else in the area, but that didn't mean there was noone. He calmly looked at the fires burning, and with a small flicker of thought he generated enough water to quickly douse the fires. It was now very smoky, but the fires were out. He turned to see how Gaerriel was doing, and if she needed help.

Gaerriel slapped the man with her burning branch and he staggered back. Her thoughts were racing, there was pain all around her and if she couldn't get the trees to stop freaking out than she was going to freak out soon. The man dodged her next swing and slashed out with his knife. Gaerriel jumped back just in time. She didn't get cut, but her robe did, a little slash. Just then all of the plants stopped crying out. Risking a little glance Gaerriel noticed she couldn't see any fires. Her mind working more clearly, she whipped the burning branch into the mans chest and let go of it. She was burned up to her elbow, but she was still being attacked, so it wasn't a good time to think about that. The man had recovered from the burning stick trick so Gaerriel flew up and hovered a few feet from the ground. Using her talons she started to seriously abuse the mans face.

Hawk laughed to himself as he watched Gaerriel claw the unfortunate man in the face. He busied himself preening his feathers, as he watched from a nearby tree limb. If it started going south, he would intervene, but until then, he thought it best to let this hormone enraged Hyrpie feed her lust for blood. So he just watched and waited.

It wasn't long before the man under attack managed to flee. Gaerriel didn't chase him, she just landed and watched him go with a wary look in her eyes. When he was out of her sight she looked around. All the fires were out so she tuned her attention to the burned plants. She walked around for few moments touching this plant, muttering to that plant, a couple of times she even took a few leaves and/or twigs, to be slid into this pocket or that pouch. Then she turned to the hawk up in the branches and said, in the same voice she had asked him if he wanted any tea just that morning, "Did you see where the rest of the cowards went?"

"Alas, my fair maiden, but by the time I got here, you had already frightened most of them away. I could track them down easily enough, but I would really prefer to get a move on... however, if you feel we must chase after them, then so be it, I will accompany you." He paused in his preening to glance in her direction, then nonchalantly continued.

Gaerriel took a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep breath, testing the air for any smells of more fire and listened to the surrounding trees for a few more minutes before she nodded. "You said you have people waiting for you. We should continue on our travel." She looked up at him. "You don't want any more tea or some rabbit or anything?"

Hawk chuckled, in a way only a hawk amanage can. It actually sounded like it might have been able to curdle milk, if milk had been available. "No, really, I am fine. I don't eat much as it is, but in any case, there will be plenty of time to eat once I have passed on. For now, let us continue!!" With that, he took off again, being careful to wait until he had cleared the highest branches before returning to his normal size.

Gaerriel flapped off after her companion. Staying in his drafts she was able to fly most comfortably.
